KOTA KINABALU: A woman fractured her legs during a toilet break when her bathroom collapsed in Semporna district near here.

The 33-year-old from Tanjung Kapor was later rescued by her family before firemen arrived at the scene.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said they received a call at around 8pm on Thursday.

He said the toilet where the woman was had collapsed and fallen to the ground from her wooden stilt house.

“The victim was first assisted by her relatives at the scene while waiting for help to arrive,” he said in a statement Friday.

Misran said the woman broke her legs and was later given preliminary treatment by medical officials before being sent to the hospital.

“Our team checked the area for other hazardous elements before wrapping up our operations.”

The operations ended at 8.30pm and no other injuries or dangerous elements were recorded.
