KUALA LUMPUR: MCA was not involved in any discussion for a post-electoral pact between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.Referring to a meeting which took place yesterday at Seri Pacific Hotel, the MCA president said he was surprised to see Pakatan leaders when he got there.

“I don’t know if it was prearranged or a coincidence,” he posted on Facebook later yesterday.

Dr Wee said he had gone there merely to attend a meeting with Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and other Barisan MPs.

This came following a WhatsApp message which he received on Sunday, informing him of the meeting which only involved Barisan MPs.

He said he felt upset (terkilan) upon seeing Pakatan leaders there.

He stressed that there was no meeting between Barisan MPs and Pakatan representatives while he was at the hotel from 10am till noon.

“What is certain is that I attended the meeting with the Barisan chairman and all the Barisan MPs.

“After the meeting and press conference dispersed, I was not involved in any discussion or meeting, whether coincidental or not, with Pakatan leaders.”

Dr Wee also said that decisions made by Barisan must get the approval of its supreme council.

In another Facebook post, he said the Barisan supreme council had also never discussed joining forces with Pakatan to form the Perak state government.

“I don’t know where this decision came from. The Barisan supreme council was set aside,” he said, in reference to the move by Barisan and Pakatan to work together in Perak, adding, “As the MCA president and Barisan vice-chairman, I was never consulted or informed directly.”
