BERA: While Barisan Nasional can capture more than 112 seats in GE15 to form the Federal Government, it will not be able to do it alone and needs to get its friends from Sabah and Sarawak to come onboard for a stable nation, says the caretaker Prime Minister.
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that according to the latest information on the election presented to Umno’s top five, Barisan believed that it could win this number of seats.
“We need a strong and stable government. We need our friends in Sabah and Sarawak to be with us.
“We are hoping to gain their support to strengthen the government that will be formed,” he said after a meet-the-people event in Kampung Batu Bor.
Ismail Sabri pointed out that 112 parliamentary seats were sufficient to form a government as there would no longer be any party hopping.
“But we want a stronger government and with the participation of our friends (from Sabah and Sarawak), this can be achieved to guarantee stability and prosperity,” he added, Bernama reported.
He said that based on the latest briefing, the voters’ mood was more inclined towards the coalition, be it among rural or urban voters.
“Further, we were informed that non-Malay voters have also returned to support Barisan,” he said.
Ismail Sabri said voters were more confident with Barisan’s ability to administer the country compared to Pakatan Harapan.
“They made the comparison and they believe Barisan is better able to do the job,” he added.
On young voters’ sentiment, Ismail Sabri said Barisan had carried out various engagements with the stakeholders to explain what the coalition had to offer.
Campaigning for GE15 enters its seventh day today.
Polling is on Nov 19.
