KOTA KINABALU: Two men in possession of 15,000 litres of diesel fuel in Beluran district have been nabbed.

The men, a storekeeper and a lorry driver, were arrested during a raid at a store in Kampung Iran at around 2.33pm on Saturday.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry director for Sabah, Georgie Abas, said the diesel was found inside a tanker and several drum barrels.

“We believe the diesel was meant to be sold to industries around the area,” he said in a statement yesterday.

When questioned, the two men failed to produce docu- ments or a licence which allowed them to store the diesel at their premises.

The case will be investigated under the Supply Controls Act.

Georgie said the ministry would continue to conduct raids and investigations to prevent the sale of subsidised fuel by unlicensed traders or individuals.
