THE frosty relationship between the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) and the Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) has thawed somewhat, Makkal Osai reported.

PHEB chairman Prof Dr P. Ramasamy revealed that the two organisations had been at odds over many issues in the past but the relationship has improved since T. Ganesan was elected MHS president last year.

Following that, Ramasamy has been invited to functions organised by MHS, the Penang Deputy Chief Minister told the media when attending the Ponggal celebration at Devi Sri Thropathi Amman temple in Ladang Victoria of Nibong Tebal.

> The daily also reported that a new book of poems was launched to promote Tamil while encouraging more people to get into reading and writing poetry.

The book, titled Tamizhannaikku Oru Thalattu (Ode to Mother Tamil), contains the works of veteran Malaysian writers KC Kannan, N. Kusala Kumari and Darvin Raj.

Kedah Tamil Writers Association chairman Mari Sachithanantham, who launched the book, bought the first copy for RM500 to show his support.
