PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has been undergoing treatment for his knee joints and ankle at the National Heart Institute (IJN) Royal Ward since Saturday.

This is a follow-up to the intervention treatment which the King underwent in September last year.

Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the treatment was postponed due to the Covid-19 standard operating procedure implemented at all hospitals, including IJN.

“On Sept 24, 2020, His Majesty underwent an intervention treatment after an MRI showed spor- ting injuries to the knee joints and ankle.

“His Majesty’s health is generally good and not alarming.

“However, at the same time, His Majesty will be undergoing a respiratory examination at IJN as well,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Sultan Abdullah would be returning to the palace after the completion of the treatment, he added.

Ahmad Fadil also urged members of the public to pray for the King’s speedy recovery.
