DATUK Ramanan Ramakrishnan, Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for Sungai Buloh, has offered to channel his MP’s salary for people’s welfare and religious institutions in the constituency if he is elected.

“I won’t take even one ringgit. The money will be given to the people of Sungai Buloh, to be used by mosques, Hindu and Chinese temples,” said the PKR deputy information chief when announcing what he would do for the Sungai Buloh electorate.

“For youths, I am proposing that a ‘super sports centre’ be built for them. This will be a place for them to be involved in sports such as sepak takraw, badminton and futsal.

“It will also serve as a place for youths to play esports or online games.”

Other matters that Ramanan said he would look into were improving infrastructure such as the poor condition of existing roads and restructuring of petty traders to make them more organised.

“My personal manifesto for Sungai Buloh would be on top of Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto (for GE15),” he said at a ceramah in Paya Jaras, where he was introduced onstage by rapper Altimet, who is also Ampang PKR division chief.

Paya Jaras assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman, Kota Damansara assemblyman Shatiri Mansor and Sentosa assemblyman G. Gunaraj delivered speeches at the event held at the Paya Jaras night market site near Kampung Paya Jaras Tengah, Shah Alam.

The audience was entertained with music performances by a band called “Budak Nakal Hujung Simpang” and standup comedian Mad Sabah.

Sungai Buloh will see a seven-cornered fight. Ramanan will be up against Khairy Jamaluddin (Barisan Nasional-Umno), Mohd Ghazali Md Hamin (Perikatan Nasional-PAS), Akmal Yusoff (Pejuang), Ahmad Jufliz (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) as well as Independent candidates Syed Razak Alsagoff and Nurhaslinda Basri (Sifu Linda).

Some 158,090 voters are expected to cast their votes in the constituency on Nov 19.
