SHAH ALAM: Twenty people have been questioned. There have been tip-offs aplenty.

Countless hours have been spent on the trail of Zalina Azman, the former newscaster who vanished eight months ago, but the search remains futile so far.

“But we will never slow down in the investigation – the case remains open until we find her,” said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, as he spoke about the unrelenting efforts to investigate Zalina’s whereabouts despite a lack of positive leads so far.

“We have explored every lead and tip-off, including checking locations where she was supposedly sighted. So far, we have recorded the statements of 20 individuals pertaining to the case,” he said.

Since the missing persons notice was released on July 18, ACP Mohd Iqbal said the police have received tens of tip-offs from the public.

“We have to go through every piece of information and filter it to ensure its credibility.

“It is a challenge, but we aim to explore any information that might lead to finding her,” he said.

While the contractor and his two workers who were involved in renovation work on Zalina’s Section 3, Shah Alam house, have been ruled out as persons of interest, ACP Mohd Iqbal said the police were still pursuing other leads.

Zalina, 58, had been reported missing on Nov 29 last year.

Her son Mikhael Norman, 33, lodged a police report after failing to reach her for five days.

So far, police have combed her house several times, deploying the K-9 unit as well as seizing several documents and a laptop.

“Our investigation is still ongoing and we appreciate any information or tip-off from the public,” ACP Mohd Iqbal said.
