KUALA LUMPUR: From nurses to cleaners and deliverymen, it’s time to salute Malaysian frontliners once more in an outreach digital campaign next month.

“Even though things are slowing down in the transition to the endemic phase, we have to remember the work done by them,” said ACTNow chief executive officer and co- founder Melvin Lam.

“We want to thank the frontliners who have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic,” he said.

ACTnow will hold the ACTnow Courage Ribbon Run for Frontliners to acknowledge all the hard work of the frontliners. It is co-organised by the Malaysia Runners Facebook Group and GoCare-Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM).

About 10,000 people are expected to take part in the event, which takes place from Aug 1 to Aug 31, aimed at lifting the spirits of the frontliners and to voice gratitude to them.

Participants have to run and post on the ACTNow Courage Ribbon Run Facebook Group with the ACTNow Courage Ribbon poster attached, write a thank-you note for the frontliners and tag friends to do the same.

It is open to all age groups with no limitation on the distance or frequency of their run.

Each participant will be awarded a digital certificate. Ten winners will be selected based on creativity.

Each will get a hamper of products worth RM1,000 from Chek Hup Coffee and AST Birdnest.

Participants will need to download the ACTNow mobile community app.

Yesterday, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker launched the event together with badminton great Datuk Foo Kok Keong, tower runner Soh Wai Ching and gymnast Sarina Sundara Rajah.

Ti said that more efforts and conversations should take place to carry out welfare work.

Stressing on the need for proactive measures, he said: “The effort that is put in can bring a lot of changes. As such, more people should come forward.

“We need young people to be passionate about solving problems through a creative and impactful manner.”

CRSM secretary-general Ng Sing Phing said the devotion by the frontliners to contain the pandemic was admirable.

“We are humbled by their immense sacrifices, invaluable dedication, commitment and unwavering efforts in managing Covid-19, often risking their own lives, for the benefit of the community and nation,” she said.
