KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized drugs worth over RM1.6mil following a major crackdown here last week.
At least 10 drug bust operations were carried out, which led to the arrest of 12 individuals, including five whom police believe were supplying drug-laced drinks to users in the Klang Valley.
City police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said police have taken three syndicates off the streets following the raids between Feb 7 and Feb 9.
“We began the operations Feb 7 and carried out five raids around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and arrested six locals aged between 22 and 39.
“We also seized 21kg of ketamine and two kilograms of syabu worth RM1.3mil,” he said.
Police also seized RM28,000 worth of jewellery and luxury watches, eight cars, a motorcycle and RM4,350 in cash.
Comm Azmi said they launched another round of raids on Feb 8 and arrested four suspects including a Thai woman.
“Investigations revealed these suspects were ‘drug doctors’ involved in mixing and selling drug-laced drinks.
“We seized 248 bottles of methylenedioxymethamphetamine(MDMA), 2.6kg of MDMA powder, 200 erimin 5 pills, 16 grams of ketamine, and 49 synthetic mushroom cigarrettes.
“Our investigations revealed they were selling each bottle of drug laced drinks for at least RM300,” he said, adding they also seized RM1,033 cash and two cars.
He said the drugs were worth RM224,000.
Comm Azmi said police conducted a third raid on Feb 9 and arrested a 37-year-old man and seized another kilogram of ketamine.
“A car was seized and the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.
“We were tracking the suspect for over two months prior to his arrest,” he said.
