PETALING JAYA: After disappearing for two days, a 57-year-old woman who had been reported missing by her family was found dead.

Her son lodged a report at the Kuala Kubu Baru police station on Tuesday night about his mother not having returned home since leaving the house the day before.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Suffian Abdullah said in a statement that the body of the woman was found about noon yesterday by the son in a river 100m away from their house in Kuala Kubu Baru.

Police investigations showed no signs of foul play.

The case had been classified as sudden death as no criminal elements were found.

“We urge the public to immediately contact their nearest police station should they have any information on this case,” he said.

In KOTA KINABALU, a woman who was last seen walking back from a restaurant to her house in Inanam early yesterday morning had been found dead in a drain.

The 50-something woman was at the restaurant in Gaya Utama Inanam at about 2am.

Kota Kinabalu Deputy OCPD Supt Kalsom Idris said the restaurant owner told police that the woman had decided to walk home alone.

“Concerned for her well-being, the owner and his friends went to check on her, but found her unconscious in a drain (beside) Jalan Bambangan, not far from Gaya Utama,” Supt Kalsom said when contacted.

“A check on the victim’s body later found no (sign) of foul play,” Supt Kalsom said, adding that police are investigating the cause of death.
