PETALING JAYA: There were more than 5,000 cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, a figure last recorded in December last year.

The upward trend saw 5,439 new infections yesterday.

The last time Malaysia breached the 5,000 mark was on Dec 10 with 5,058 new cases.

In his daily statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were a total of 4,409 recoveries.

Of the new infections, 332 were imported cases.

“Out of this, 47 cases have been classified as Categories 3, 4 and 5.

“The national infectivity rate is currently at 1.13,” he said.

Negri Sembilan has the highest infectivity rate at 1.18.

Dr Noor Hisham urged those who have yet to be jabbed to immediately register and get vaccinated.
