SEREMBAN: A discussion will be held among the authorities on the possibility of building a special area in Jalan Temiang-Pantai for motorists to stop to enjoy the view.

Nilai OCPD Supt Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman said the discussion will involve the local council and the Public Works Department.

He said many motorists stop along the stretch, especially during sunrise, to take photographs.

“This is dangerous and should be stopped,” he said yesterday.

A video clip which went viral showed about 30 cars parked along the emergency lane at the recently opened Jalan Temiang-Pantai stretch.

The group, believed to be members of a car club, had apparently parked along the stretch to take photographs along the scenic route. The recording was believed to have been made at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Nanda Maarof reminded motorists that they are not allowed to park along the emergency lane on any road unless there is a pressing need to do so.

“Stopping unnecessarily along the emergency lane is dangerous to other road users as well as themselves.

“This is an offence under rule 53(1) of the Road Safety Rules 1959 and punishable under Section 119 (2) of the Road Transport Act 1987 which carries a fine of up to RM2,000 or jail term not exceeding six months,” he said in a statement.
