KAMPAR: Students and teachers with Covid-19 symptoms like coughing and sneezing should seek medical attention as soon as possible, says Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

“I urge those with symptoms such as coughing and sneezing, and a low Sp02 level (blood oxygen saturation), to go to a clinic or hospital for immediate treatment,” he told reporters after launching a fundraiser for Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman’s (UTAR) hospital at UTAR’s Dewan Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik here yesterday.Dr Mah noted that with the various Covid-19 variants, including Omicron, it was important for everyone to remain extra careful.

“There is no need to panic as long as we follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the Health Ministry and National Security Council.

“We should always remain vigilant towards Covid-19. Everyone has a role to play,” he said.

He noted that nearly 100% of teachers in the country had completed their vaccination.

There had been a number of infections recorded at Sekolah Seri Puteri in Cyberjaya.

An outbreak was also reported at a matriculation college in Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan.
