BATU GAJAH: Four “super heroes” landed at the Tronoh wet market here, giving everybody a Sunday morning surprise.

Spiderman, Wolverine, Thor and Captain America accompanied MCA candidate for Tronoh, Leong Chee Wai, on his walkabout.

Leong said the four were his team members, who came dressed as Marvel characters.

“Campaigns are always so serious, so we thought it will be fun to bring along these characters for the walkabout.

“Since the four of them already have the costume, we decided to have a light and easy moment,” he said yesterday.

During his walkabout, he bumped into his opponent Sin Koon Yen from Perikatan Nasional (Gerakan), who was there having breakfast with her team members.

The Tronoh state seat under the Batu Gajah parliamentary constituency is seeing a six-cornered fight.

Besides Sin, Leong is also facing incumbent Paul Yong’s son Bryan Yong Wu Sean (Parti Bangsa Malaysia), Steven Tiw Tee Siang (Pakatan Harapan-DAP), Roslan Ismail (Gerakan Tanah Air-Pejuang) and Meor Shahimudin Hasim (Independent).

As for the ordinary folk, they have much to say about Tronoh.

Retiree Lew Kin Wai, 81, said youngsters were leaving Tronoh for bigger towns.

“We need factories to be set up here to create more job opportunities,” he said.

Another retiree Yip Mun Chai, 67, said people in Tronoh were looking for development.

“There is so much space for agriculture development,” he said.

Lorry driver P. Selvaraju, 40, was more blunt.

“Tronoh town needs development.

“This place is literally dead,” he said.
