JOHOR BARU: Johor is looking at having the land Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL-Land) implemented at the Second Link near Iskandar Puteri following the successful launch of the travel scheme at the Causeway.

State public works, transportation and infrastructure committee chairman Mohd Solihan Badri said Johor had prepared well for the VTL-Land.

“We are looking at expanding it to include the Second Link, too. So far, we are really satisfied with the process at Larkin Sentral and will propose to the Federal Government to expand it to allow more people to see their families,” he said after welcoming travellers who arrived by bus from Singapore at Larkin Sentral here yesterday.

The first bus from Singapore arrived at the bus terminal at 9.13am with 45 passengers on board. Earlier, the first bus headed to the Woodlands Checkpoint left the terminal with only four passengers at 7.30am.

The exco member played down the detection of one VTL-Land passenger who tested positive for Covid-19.

He said the passenger, in his 20s, was tested at the bus terminal, adding that the Health Ministry then placed the passenger at a quarantine centre here.

The state government would treat the incident as an imported case as the passenger tested negative for Covid-19 while in Singapore two days ago, he said.

Mohd Solihan said as of noon yesterday, the number of travellers who entered Johor from Singapore stood at 350.

He said the state government would continue to work closely with Larkin Sentral’s management, Land Public Transport Agency, Johor Public Transport Corp, bus operators and Health Ministry officials to ensure that the VTL-Land ran smoothly.
