IPOH: Two brothers rented a house in Kampar in December and turned it into a drug-processing laboratory, distributing the heroin they produced in nearby towns.
They moved around in a car that had several law enforcement stickers, as well as VVIP emblems, to avoid being stopped by the authorities.
However, police caught whiff of their activities after just a month and the two, aged 44 and 45, were arrested on Monday in a raid following a tip-off.
The cops seized heroin weighing 40.135kg, caffeine weighing 11.05kg, and a type of liquid believed to be drugs weighing 4kg.
The total haul was estimated to be worth RM665,782.
“We also confiscated chemicals and equipment believed to be used to process the drugs,” said Perak police chief Datuk Seri Comm Mohd Yusri Hassan.
The car with the VVIP stickers was also seized.
“The drugs were meant for local distribution and could be used by 85,000 drug addicts,” he told reporters at the state police contingent here yesterday.
He said both suspects tested positive for morphine, but did not have a criminal record.
“The two have been remanded until Jan 16. They face the mandatory death sentence,” he added.
