KUALA LUMPUR: The Batang Kali-Genting Highlands road in Hulu Selangor, which was closed following a major landslide, will be reopened to traffic today.

However, only workers in Genting Highlands with an employer’s letter are allowed access to the temporary route with only one lane, beginning 5pm, Bernama reported.

The Public Works Department said the road is only opened for class one vehicles (cars, taxis and multi-purpose vehicles) as well as class six vehicles (motorcycles and scooters).

It said motorists using the road are not allowed to stop at the landslide section.

“Users should be careful when passing through the road and adhere to all signage as works to monitor the slope is still being carried out,” JKR added in a statement yesterday.

The department also urged road users to use alternative routes such as the Ulu Yam-Batu Caves and Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh routes to reduce congestion.
