PETALING JAYA: A lion dance troupe in outfits adorned by green LED lights welcomed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as he graced the Chinese New Year dinner organised by LBS Bina Group Bhd.

His Majesty was accompanied by Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Among the dignitaries were International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

His Majesty and guests along with LBS Bina executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Hock San started dinner with the traditional tossing of yee sang.

In a speech, Lim said it was truly an honour to have the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at LBS Bina’s Chinese New Year celebration.

“I am a firm believer that Yang di-Pertuan Agong has bestowed the nation with greater harmony as a strong advocate for cultural unity of all races.

“This celebration will definitely give us a good start and opulence to every one of us at LBS Bina in the Year of the Tiger,” he said.

Lim also noted that this year’s celebration was different because of the new norm caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was held with a strict standard operating procedure (SOP), with the 250 guests required to wear face masks throughout the reception.

“This Chinese New Year celebration is a very different one, where we will be celebrating it amidst the new norm and for the Lim family, the first one without our late founder and beloved father, the late Datuk Seri Lim Bock Seng,” said Lim.

He added that the company had done its part by contributing to those affected by the pandemic and the recent floods.

Other VVIPs present at the event in Hotel Majestic, Kuala Lumpur were Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Pahang state executive councillors and China’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing.
