Xiaomi has partnered up with YouTube to provide a free trial for the YouTube Premium service for those who recently bought some of the newer smartphones released by the company. The length of the trial varies by phone model, but it is certainly more than the standard one month trial offered by YouTube itself.
Those with a Xiaomi 11T, 11T Pro, and 11 Lite 5G NE can get a three-month subscription to the service although the 11T and 11T Pro must have been activated on or after 1 December 2021 to be eligible. The newly launched Redmi Note 11 series users are also entitled to the promotion, but will only be getting two months.
To activate it, open up the preloaded YouTube app on an eligible Xiaomi phone and follow the on-screen instructions or visit the Premium section on YouTube’s website. Before you rush off to do that though, do note that this offer is only available in certain countries, with Malaysia being oddly excluded from this list while Singapore is included.
For those who are not familiar with YouTube Premium, it offers an ad-free viewing experience alongside background play, the ability to download videos for offline viewing and access to the YouTube Music Premium streaming service. It costs RM17.90 per month or RM14.90 per month if you only want YouTube Music.
