The Sennheiser Momentum 4 got leaked last week via a Canadian retailer that listed the wireless noise-cancelling headphones too early. It was supposed to be launched sometime this month. And that happens to be today, as the company has finally officially announced the latest entry into the long-standing series.
With the launch, Sennheiser has confirmed that the Momentum 4 will indeed have a battery life of up to 60 hours. According to Engadget though, this figure is with ANC turned on. Which is pretty unusual since most headphone makers advertise battery life figures with ANC off to show the largest figure possible. On the subject of battery, the company claims that you can get the Momentum 4 to play for six hours just by charging for 10 minutes.
Other items on the spec sheet include 42mm drivers, support for wired USB-C audio which is surprisingly uncommon today, and support for the usual Bluetooth codecs like AAC, SBC, aptX and aptX Adaptive. Convenience features include what the company calls Smart Pause, which pauses music playback when you take the headphones off your head. There’s also Auto On / Off, which turns it on automatically when picked up, and turns off on its own when not in use.
And with the move from the more traditional metal and leather aesthetic to a more modern plastic build, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 has also moved from its more traditional button operation to a more modern touch and gesture operation. Subjectively speaking, some may see this aesthetic change as a downgrade. But objectively, what is a downgrade, according to The Verge, is that the genuine leather on older Momentum models have been replaced with artificial leather. Though this is not exactly surprising, considering the shift to the more modern look overall.
The Sennheiser Momentum 4 comes with a price tag of US$349.95 (~RM1560). Internationally, pre-orders are open starting today with actual availability only starting on 23 August. Though local pricing and availability details are not yet available at the time of writing.
