Samsung wallet

Samsung has unveiled the digital Samsung Wallet, its proper rival to the Apple Wallet. It seems to extend the features of Samsung Pay by adding secure storage for more than just payment solutions, with both protected under the company’s Knox platform.

Samsung Wallet is able to store personal IDs, student IDs, credit and debit cards, boarding passes, movie tickets, digital keys, and cryptocurrency. According to a press release, the digital wallet will only be supported on the new Galaxy S22 series.

The feature will have a launch limited to certain regions, namely Korea, US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The digital ID function will be rolled out later this year, while the ability to add boarding passes and tickets will initially only be available in South Korea.

The announcement also shows that the wallet will support cards from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Interestingly, while Samsung previously revealed four automaker partners for its digital car key feature, it seems that the tech giant is adding Kia and Porsche into the mix.
