Motorola Razr Plus

The Motorola Razr lineup of 2023 has suffered multiple leaks leading up to the official launch, with even the names being inconsistent between each one. Now that the phones have finally seen their launch in China and the international market, the reason for this is somewhat clearer than before.

As GSMArena reports, the phones launched in their home market as the Motorola Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra, consistent with most of the leaks we’ve seen. But Internationally, it has launched instead as the Motorola Razr and Razr Plus, respectively.

Going through the now official spec sheet, we can see that the leaked Italian slide for the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra from earlier in the week was accurate. We’re still looking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, a 6.9-inch 165Hz Full HD+ screen on the inside and a 3.9-inch 144Hz screen on the outside.

RAM and storage are rated at 8GB and 256GB respectively. The battery is rated at 3,800mAh, with support for 33W wired and 5W wireless charging. Cameras are still the 13MP f/1.5 + 12MP f/2.2 combo for the main setup, with the seconday one being a 32MP f/2.4 shooter.

The base model Motorola Razr, ironically for being less leaked, ends up being the more exciting one. Now we know that it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and a slightly larger 4,200mAh battery that has the same 33W wired and 5W wireless charging support. RAM and storage configuration is identical at 8GB + 256GB, as is the 32MP secondary camera.

But while the front screen is of the same size and resolution, its refresh rate has dropped a little, down to 144Hz. The secondary screen is naturally smaller, at 1.5 inches, but it still supports a 120Hz refresh rate. As for the main dual-camera combo, this has also been changed to a 64MP f/1.7 + 12MP f/2.2 pair.

For their prices, the Motorola Razr has a price tag of GBP799, while the Plus model is priced at GBP1,049 instead. No word on local pricing and availability. While the company may decide to give the local market a skip, it might be worth noting that the company thought the same for the US market, before finally scheduling a release for the Razr Plus over therelater this month.
