Khairy jamaluddin health minister

We may have recorded 11994 new COVID-19 cases, but it’s probably safe to say that most of the people who got infected will be fine. This is according to a new set of statistics that Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin shared on Twitter.

According to the minister, as we transition to endemicity, nearly 98% of active COVID-19 cases only have to quarantine themselves at home. He attributes this to the success of the national immunisation program (PICK). More specifically, of the currently active cases, 97.6% have to only quarantine at home, with two percent being quarantined in hospitals, 0.2% at quarantine and treatment centres, 0.1% in intensive care units without ventilators and another 0.1% in ICUs with ventilators.

Khairy also says that the Health Ministry is continuing to monitor home quarantine cases via the Virtual COVID Assessment Centre (VCAC) of the MySejahtera app. This is important because there are those who need to be referred to hospitals when their condition worsens. It also provides real data to the ministry.

You can find out more taking a look at the Twitter thread itself, which Khairy has posted in both English and Malay. You can also find the same data in the main tweet on the Ministry of Health’s COVIDNOW microsite.
