Last year, Jabra launched its new Elite series which, at the time, consists of the Elite 7 Pro, Elite 7 Active, Elite 3 and Elite 2. Now, the series has a new member to squeeze in between the entry level and high-end models. This comes in the form of the Jabra Elite 5.
One major highlight of the Jabra Elite 5 is its Hybrid ANC. Which means that it has both inward- and outward-facing microphones to detect and cancel noise that isn’t part of the track you’re listening to. Naturally, should you need to hear what’s going on in the real world, there’s the ambient mode which the company calls its HearThrough tech.
Pumping out noise from these buds to your eardrums are 6mm drivers. The Jabra Elite 5 also supports the usual audio codecs, from SBC, AAC to Qualcomm’s aptX. When used with Android devices, the support for Google Fast pair means that the process is a lot less of a hassle. And if you have multiple devices in use at the same time, there’s multipoint pairing that allows two of them to be connected at a time.
For battery life, the Jabra Elite 5 is rated at seven hours of playback time with ANC on, and nine hours with it off. The case can recharge the buds from empty to full four times, which means a total of 35 hours with ANC and 45 hours without. The company also says that 10 minutes of charging will give these TWS buds an hour of playback time. There’s also support for Qi wireless charging.
To close out the entire package, the Jabra Elite 5 has an IP55 rating, letting it survive some exposure to bad weather. It’s priced at US$149 (~RM668). There’s no details on local pricing and availability as of yet, but the US pricing sounds about right when compared to the prices of the other models in the Elite series.
