iQOO has officially launched the Neo 8 series of smartphones consisting of the Neo 8 and Neo 8 Pro. Both phones feature flagship-level specs at mid-ranger prices, with the Pro debuting the new Dimensity 9200 Plus from MediaTek, which was unveiled just earlier this month as the boosted version of its Dimensity 9200 SoC.

The Pro sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800×1260 and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The MediaTek chipset running inside it is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.

On the camera side, the Neo 8 Pro is fitted with a 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor with OIS along with an 8MP ultra-wide lens while the selfie shooter features a 16MP camera. As for connectivity, it supports 5G, up to Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.

The vanilla iQOO Neo 8 uses the exact same 144Hz AMOLED display as the Pro and both devices use an under-display fingerprint scanner for security. Under the hood, it uses last year’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 from Qualcomm with up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

For the cameras, the rear module offers a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor with OIS and a 2MP depth sensor while up front, the punch-hole cutout houses a 16MP selfie camera. Both devices are also equipped with vivo’s in-house V1+ imaging chip. Connectivity-wise, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.

Just like earlier rumours, both the Neo 8 and Neo 8 Pro are powered by 5,000mAh batteries with support for 120W wired charging. While the lack of wireless charging is disappointing, the phones do make up for it with support for reverse wired charging.

The iQOO Neo 8 starts from CNY2,299 (~RM1,495) for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the base trim of the Pro with the same configuration retails at CNY3,099 (~RM2,016). As of now, it’s unknown if and when the lineup will be available in international markets.
