Casio G-Shock GBD-H2000 Malaysia Feb 2023

Over the past few years, Casio has launched several G-Shock fitness watches under the G-Squad Series. The company today has expanded the series once again by announcing the first new G-Squad model for 2023 called the GBD-H2000 which was developed in collaboration with a well-known name in the fitness wearables, Polar.

While it might be not as advanced as the GSW-H1000 which was a full-fledged Wear OS fitness smartwatch, the new GBD-H2000 still has plenty of features that users would have wanted from a formidable fitness watch. The list includes a built-in heart rate sensor alongside the support for multiple global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) such as GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, and MICHIBIKI (QZSS).

Just to be clear, the GNSS support is built directly into the watch and not via smartphone-based Assisted GNSS. Casio has also equipped GBD-H2000 with other sensors such as air pressure/altitude, compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, and thermo while it can also measure blood oxygen level.

As for Polar’s role in this venture, the Finnish company has provided algorithms to the GBD-H2000 in order to allow the watch to perform fitness level assessments with metrics such as VO2max and cardio load. In addition to that, the algorithms are also used to track energy usage and sleep.

When it comes to workout modes, the new watch covers eight of them in total including running, trail running, cycling, open water swimming, pool swimming, gym workouts, interval training, and of course, walking. Being a G-Shock, the GBD-H2000 has no problem withstanding water depths of up to 200 meters.

All the data from the watch can be synced to the Casio Watches mobile app for further analysis and save keeping. Users can also the app to perform automated time adjustment and time sync with around 300 cities across the world as well as several other functions such as notifications and phone finder.

Battery-wise, Casio claimed that the GBD-H2000 can last between 14 to 19 hours when its GPS and heart rate functions are in use simultaneously. When in watch mode with the heart rate sensor turned off, the battery life can then be increased to around two months and it can be pushed further up to 23 months if the wearer activates the watch’s power-saving mode.

The GBD-H2000 also has a built-in solar panel although it only powers the watch’s time display. The Japanese company also noted that this model is 38% lighter than its predecessor, the 2020’s GBD-H1000 despite having a carbon fibre-reinforced case back.
