bioshock infinite

The last entry into the Bioshock series was Infinite, released all the way back in 2013. It’s been awhile, but rumours of a new entry into the series have surfaced, with the working title of Bioshock Isolation.

The rumour comes via a Twitter user with the very on-the-nose handle of @oopsleaks. Accompanying the tweet with the supposed details of the fourth Bioshock game is a logo for Isolation. The game is being made using Unreal Engine 5 by folks from Irrational Games, the studio that made the first and third games, as well as people who worked on Watch Dogs Legion, Mafia III, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

For the setting of Bioshock Isolation, it will be a “new-to-franchise” isolated dystopian city. Which is pretty much the staple of the series anyway, though with varying degrees of isolation, depending on your perspective.

According to Push Square, there’s a new website, thereisalwaysalighthouse.com, that emerged over the weekend. It supposedly has something to do with Bioshock Isolation, but there’s virtually nothing in it.

The @oopsleaks tweet also mentions an anticipated announcement coming in the first quarter of next year. That being said, it should probably not come as a surprise if it was done as early as during The Game Awards that will happen in early December. After all, that’s usually another window where devs and publishers schedule their big announcements.
