AMD’s fall launch of its Ryzen 7000 series draws is almost here, yet the rumour mill hasn’t been consistently churning out a lot of gossip over what we can expect to see on the day itself. That is, until recently.
According to prominent hardware leakster, Greymon55 (@greymon55), AMD reportedly plans on leading the charge for the Ryzen 7000 series with four SKUs at launch. That list, by the way, includes the 7950X, 7900X, 7800X, and 7600X. Interestingly enough, it doesn’t seem like a 7700X will be available at the time.
If the pattern of the Ryzen 7000 series seems all too familiar to some of you, it’s probably because AMD did the same thing back in November 2020, when it introduced the Ryzen 5000 series desktop CPUs, which in turn was the follow-up to the Rzyen 3000 series. Even back then, the Ryzen 7 5700X wasn’t present at launch and only came on to the scene this year.

Greymon55 did also provide the alleged SRP for the top-tier 7950X, but has since removed it. According to them, the CPU could cost something along the lines of 5999 Yuan (~RM3932) at launch. That’s actually more expensive that what the 5950X costs now, at RM2699. Having said that, it should be noted that the speculated pricings for PC components, especially this early on in the game, are almost always never accurate, so it is best not to focus too much on this aspect.
CPU lineup notwithstanding, we at least know what to expect from the Ryzen 7000 series at launch, thanks to AMD’s Computex 2022 keynote. The new CPU lineup will be based on the chipmaker’s new Zen4 architecture, and will be the first CPU series to be built using the 5nm die lithography. Those 5nm CPU cores are also combined, with an all-new 6nm I/O Die, housing integrated RDNA2 graphics cores, along with DDR5 and PCIe Gen5 controllers.
For that matter, the Ryzen 7000 series will also require a new AM5 chipset that also marks the second time AMD has transitioned from the PGA to LGA socket. Moreover, the new LGA socket will have 1718 pins soldered into the motherboard. On the subject of motherboards, the CPU series will also be getting new 600 series boards that include an X670 Extreme series, X670, and B650.
