Back in September, reports appeared about the alleged gaming performance of Intel’s 12th generation Core i9-12900K in Ashes of the Singularity, well before we reviewed it. Recently, a new set of performance metrics using the same game has appeared, only this time, they belong to Intel’s yet to be released GPU, the ARC Alchemist.
The screen of the game’s benchmark was posted by none other than the Thailand-based leakster, APISAK (@TUM_APISAK). Specifically, the benchmark results simply refer to the GPU as the earlier “Intel Xe” moniker, but at this stage, it is clear the GPU belongs to the Alchemist family. Additionally, the paired CPU is, naturally, a 12900K.
Oddly enough, there are some indications that the Alchemist GPU could be a mid-range or an entry-level GPU; the in-game settings seem to be a mix between medium and high, with shading samples set at eight million. On top of that, the resolution in which the GPU was tested is Full HD.

In regards to its performance, the Alchemist GPU seemingly maintained an average framerate of 126 fps with those settings, with the normal batch framerate set at 149 fps, 130 fps for a medium batch test, and 108 fps for the heavy batch test.
It has been rumoured that Intel’s top-of-the-line ARC Alchemist GPU will not be on par with NVIDIA or AMD’s highest-tier GPU, such as the GeForce RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800XT. In fact, it is expected that its enthusiast-level Alchemist card will, at the very least, be on par with an RTX 3070 Ti or RX 6700XT.
In any case, Intel isn’t expected to launch its ARC Alchemist lineup until sometime in the middle of 2022, so until then, best to take this news with a grain of salt.
