AirAsia X (AAX) has announced that it will be adding three new routes to its service. More specifically, starting from 1 November onwards, the AirAsia subsidiary medium to long-haul airline will be offering flights to Melbourne and Perth in Australia, as well as Auckland, New Zealand.
The routes, though technically are not new, are part of its efforts to recommence flights to several key destinations after being grounded for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. AAX had also reintroduced several other locations earlier this year, which included Sydney, Tokyo, Sapporo, Osaka, Honolulu, Incheon and New Delhi – with London, Dubai and Istanbul recently being added to the list just last month.
Services to Melbound, Perth, and Auckland (via Sydney) will start off with three weekly flights in November. The airline notes that frequencies for these routes will gradually increase to daily flights by the first quarter of 2023 to meet strong demand. AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail assures that even more destinations are planned to be added in the near future.
Fares from Kuala Lumpur to all three aforementioned destinations are now available for booking via the airasia Super App and website from RM499 to Perth, RM699 to Melbourne and RM1,999 to Auckland all-in-one way on Economy. Additionally, guests can choose to experience the medium to long-haul airline’s premium flatbed from RM1,999, RM2,999 and RM5,999 respectively for one way trips. “Importantly, with over a dozen routes in our network this year, our valued guests with outstanding credit will be able to use their travel vouchers to book future travel to many exciting destinations with us,” Benyamin said in a statement. On that note, AAX had recently said that it had compensated over 270,000 cancelled bookings caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by reimbursing customers with travel vouchers. Its CEO assured that the company will continue to honour its commitment to customers with outstanding credit.
